Freaking Out Over SHINE

You guys. Have you read this book? I know I’m like a billion years late to the party (1 year = 1 billion in YA years), but this book…this book is friggin’ amazing.  I’ll admit, I totally get sucked into the I-must-only-read-what-just-came-out phenomenon. But recently I’ve been picking up what I want to read, versus what’s new and shiny. And my people, I’ve been rewarded for my rebel ways.

My most recent reward came from SHINE, a book about a small town with big problems. You know those books where you suddenly feel like your life becomes unimportant? Like, you’re doing laundry or eating lunch or washing your car…and the whole time you’re thinking: this isn’t my real life. My real life starts again when I get back to reading SHINE. It’s like all of a sudden, the people in your world become less real, because the people between the pages sprang to life in this mind-bending way.

I’ve heard there’s a lot of controversy surrounding this book, and I just can’t understand why. It was just…amazing. One of those books that makes you doubt your own abilities as a writer. I seriously don’t even know what else to say besides I fucking LOVED this book. That’s right, it’s F-bomb worthy.

Have you guys read this one? I’m dying to talk to someone about it!

I have this book but haven’t had a chance to read it yet so you’re ahead of me. I’m glad you enjoyed Shine. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

Oh girl, it’s so good. Like I don’t want to talk it up too much (gotta’ manage those expectations so you’re not disappointed), but I really, really liked it.

Sounds good! I read her book Kissing Kate. I really liked it. Read it in only a few hours.

YES YES YES!!!!! I felt the same way as you, this book blew my mind! I read it as an ARC before it’s release but I was a HUGE promoter of it. It’s one that I want the WHOLE FREAKING WORLD to read. Seriously, everyone needs to read it. It’s one I will do everything possible to get it into the hands of as many people as I possibly can. So seeing your thoughts just got me all sorts of excited again. Sometimes I feel like my excitement over a book falls on deaf ears, so it’s nice to know you feel the same way.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!
